I'm a faculty fellow at Georgetown University's Institute for the Study of Markets and Ethics, where I conduct research in political philosophy and epistemology. I work primarily on (1) economic justice and (2) the development of meritocratic alternatives to democracy in its current form. In my view, good normative work requires engagement with the social sciences, and my research draws on microeconomics, empirical research on voter behavior, and the formal theory of collective decision-making. Details are available on my research page.
Before coming to academia, I served in the U.S. Navy and as an Operations Officer in the Central Intelligence Agency.
My CV can be found here, and you can e-mail me at thomas DOT mulligan AT georgetown DOT edu.
In my free time I like to cook and fly small airplanes.
